Devolder: Discrimination In Los Alamos County
By MARK DEVOLDER
Los Alamos
Los Alamos County is really big on recreational activities and various kinds of “Fests.”
Personally, my recreational activity or Fest is working on my vehicles. This is particularly the case as automotive shops typically charge $125 per hour for repair work.
The folks in Community Development (that is, Nuisance Code Enforcement) have suggested that automobiles need to be repaired in residential garages. As has been pointed out previously, not everyone has a garage or even a carport (this applies to apartments, too). Therefore, vehicle owners may resort to repairing Read More

My only previous, experience with politics was as a little boy, when during a friendly dirt clod fight on our farm in Belen, my city friends used “road apples” * instead of dirt clods.
We had a great Rodeo day Saturday. I really enjoyed the parade and visiting with many people during the fair.
But I had some interesting queries:

Op-Ed: Golf Course Controversy
By DAVID RULE
Tesuque
There has been a bit of a local controversy going on around proposed changes to the Los Alamos Municipal golf course.
The Council has decided to extend the driving range – at considerable cost and impact to the golf course at large.

The Council is apparently not interested in this simple solution – and argue that the extending the driving range is “a safety issue”.
Oh … I guess if Read More

1st Vice Chairman
Republican Party of New Mexico
In response to Valerie Fox’s Aug. 9 letter to the editor (link) criticizing Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce’s justified reaction to the recent FBI raid on former President Trump’s residence, Mar-a-Lago, I must say it is Valerie who is, in fact, tone deaf – and, in fact – quite blind.
While Ms. Fox’s letter attempts to incorporate her “criminal justice background” as a basis for her argument to demonize Trump, it becomes quite apparent that she turns a blind eye to facts which should at least make a reasonable Read More
