Thursday, New Mexico Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard announced a ban on cruel coyote-killing contests on the 9.5 million acres of state trust land. The ban also applies to other non-protected species.

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) have introduced the Background Check Expansion Act to expand federal background checks to all gun sales.
 
Under current federal law, unlicensed or private sellers are not required to conduct a background check prior to transferring a firearm.
