By LINDA & PAUL DALY
Los Alamos

It is with great admiration and respect that we endorse Christine Chandler as our State Representative for District 43.

We’ve found Chris to be not only extremely knowledgeable in legislative matters at the County, State and Federal levels, but also caring and balanced in her dialogue with others who may not share the same point of view. She is a skilled listener who asks questions, lots of them, to fully understand issues. She is laser-focused, sifting through information to arrive at the facts and get to the heart of issues. She is experienced—that

Maggiore: NCRTD Connects Communities, Provides Access To Opportunity For All

By ANTONIO MAGGIORE
Los Alamos County Councilor

Having grown up in Los Alamos, I can remember when we did not have public transit in Los Alamos County—let alone a well-functioning regional system like the North Central Regional Transit District (RTD or the Blue Bus)—and as a kid, my community was smaller because of the lack of transit. While White Rock and Los Alamos are nearby, I was not always afforded the option of easily traveling back and forth between the two communities on my own to visit friends, explore events, or immerse myself in the community.

Now, our youth have that opportunity to get Read More

Letter To The Editor: Dist. 43 Candidate Christine Chandler Works Well With Others

By RICK REISS
Los Alamos County Councilor

As we reach the end of another campaign season, it has become uncommon for a candidate to demonstrate a simple characteristic that is lacking in politics in all levels of government. That characteristic is the ability to work well with others. Christine Chandler has stuck to the issues and never spoke divisively about other candidates.

Working well with others is a skill we need in government. With many opinions, it is important to have a representative that listens, explores alternatives to other opinions and does not denigrate them. I have come to know Read More

Letter To The Editor: Lisa Shin Represents Us Not Big Government

By VINCENT CHIRAVALLE
Los Alamos

I am proud to support Lisa Shin in her campaign for NM House District 43. Her recent editorial opposing new GRT taxes on the Laboratory showed great insight and a thoughtful command of the key issues effecting the economy of Northern New Mexico.

State government often focuses on one type of solution in order to address needs in our community: new taxes, new fees and excessive regulations. This type of government overreach drives up the cost of doing business and will ultimately drive new science and national security jobs away from Northern New Mexico to other more Read More

White: Sheriff Race Comes Down To Three Things

By GREG WHITE
Independent Candidate For Sheriff

The race for Sheriff of Los Alamos comes down to 3 things. First, only one candidate will be a full time Sheriff for part time pay (the others have full time jobs). Second, only one has law enforcement and/or a legal background as well as managed people/offices. Third, only one tells you what they will and won’t do as Sheriff, and is currently doing that. I am that candidate. My name is Greg White. I invite and ask everyone to visit my web page https://greg4sheriff.com.

I am detailed but concise and I have a link to my Facebook page where
