By REBECCA RUTHERFORD
Los Alamos
For the Los Alamos Daily Post
The city of St. Paul, Minn., was the latest target of a cyber-attack, bringing city systems and services to a grinding halt. Tim Walz had to call in the National Guard, which also has a cyber component.

Day in, day out, the number crunchers at the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics keep tabs on the economy and report data, a job only a geek could love. Much hangs on those numbers.
The stock market, industry and government decision makers, and the business press track statistics coming from the BLS and other agencies to gauge the health of the economy. That’s why there was such an uproar when President Trump fired the bureau’s head geek, Commissioner Erika McEntarfer, because he didn’t like the numbers in the July jobs report. The economy Read More

Many New Mexicans watched with emotions from concern to dismay as the 900-plus page federal budget reconciliation bill—what the president called the One Big Beautiful Bill—was passed a few weeks ago. We knew provisions of that bill would damage New Mexico in ways we had heard about and ways that we had not learned about yet. Sam LeDoux: Not Right Time To Run For Española Mayor
By Sam LeDoux
