Letter To The Editor: About The Council And Our Sheriff
By MATT WOLK To the community of Los Alamos,
The Los Alamos County Council has written a resolution to prevent the Sheriff from doing his job as prescribed by state law. As everyone should know, state laws trump county ordinances.
The people of this community should also know that an elected sheriff derives his authority directly from the people, which is why he outranks all other law officers in his jurisdiction.
The Sheriff’s Office has authorities that the county police department does not have. Because of this fact it is in the best interest of the people of this Read More

Letter To The Editor: Apparently Council Didn’t Get Memo
By JOHN N. HORNEAll around this nation we are seeing the rebellion of the electorate, in both parties, against those who have been loaned the power to govern by the people of this Country. Whether it is the rise of Donald Trump, or the inability of Hillary Clinton to put away Bernie Sanders, it is obvious that the vast majority of the people in this nation are tired of deceitful, self-serving politicians who place their agenda ahead of the will of the people.
Apparently the Los Alamos County Council did not receive the memo. Even after months of watching America rebel against Read More

Sheehey: Why I’m Running For Re-Election To Council
By Councilor PETE SHEEHEYWhen I knocked on doors four years ago and asked people what they wanted from county government, they told me to go ahead with the most important investments for our future, but don’t spend too much, and make sure we get good value for taxpayers’ dollars. That’s what I have worked for.
I am focused as a Councilor on working toward a better future for this town, based upon listening to the community. A growing and diversified local economy will make this a better place for all of us, and for the Lab to attract good people and their Read More
Letter To The Editor: Stop Defying Will Of The People
By JOHN L. HORNELetter To The Editor: A Breath Of Fresh Air, Justice Judy Nakamura For New Mexico Supreme Court
By VERNON N. KERRSome things that have been around for about 40 years are musty or crusty and need to be aired out. They still need just a freshening of good fresh air.
The New Mexico Supreme Court has been completely packed with Democratic Party judges since 1980. One philosophy of government and that is probably not the best thing for the people of New Mexico.
Recently there has been that breath of fresh air in the person of Justice Judith Nakamura, a Republican. She was appointed by Gov. Susana Martinez to fill the vacancy left by Judge Bratton. Judith (*Judy) Nakamura is no stranger to
