ALBUQUERQUE — This afternoon, Gov. Susana Martinez announced the first batch of funding to help develop and commercialize several innovative products that are the result of partnerships between researchers at New Mexico’s laboratories and universities, and the private sector.
The initiative is through the Technology Research Collaborative, which Martinez reestablished in 2013 and allows teams of researchers to compete for funding to bring their ideas and products into the marketplace.

SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez has appointed Scott Weaver as secretary for the New Mexico Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Weaver has more than two decades of law enforcement experience, serving as an officer with the New Mexico State Police from 1994 to 2015, prior to his appointment by Martinez as deputy secretary of DPS. His appointment follows the departure of former DPS Secretary Greg Fouratt, who recently stepped down to become a U.S. magistrate judge in Las Cruces.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As agreed in the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, signed by President Barack Obama Feb. 24, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that March 10, it raised the value of a shipment of merchandise imported by one person on one day that generally may be imported free of duties and taxes from $200 to $800.
