Local Kiwanian Karin Church treated the club to a presentation and slide show Feb. 18, detailing her photography from the trip she took to Namibia with her son in January of last year.
She explained that the country is quite large, about 120 percent the size of Texas, with only major roads paved. After much research, they narrowed their scope of their travels to the sites and experiences they most wanted to include in their limited one-week adventure.

A push years in the making to overhaul the way game commissioners are appointed and update the Game and Fish department’s mission to managing non-game species came a step closer to reality Saturday.

SFNF Flies Fixed-Wing Infrared Technology On All Prescribed Fires; Confirms No Residual Heat Present
SANTA FE — As early spring weather brings warmer temperatures and winds to northern New Mexico, the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) wants to share with its communities that fire managers used a variety of techniques, including aerial infrared monitoring, to confirm no residual heat remains on fall and winter prescribed fire projects.
In late 2024 and early 2025, SFNF fire managers treated hazardous fuels through prescribed fire projects in the following locations:
- Jemez Ranger District: Hill Unit, Seven Springs Pile, Triangle Pile, Joaquin North;
- Cuba Ranger District: Deer
