Saturday, Nov. 16, the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos will be collecting and buying aluminum cans to be sent for recycling.

The collection location is the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church on Diamond Drive (near Sullivan Field).

Collection hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kirtland AFB Bulk Fuels Facility Project Public Meeting Nov. 21

The Air Force will be hosting a virtual and in-person public meeting for the Kirtland Air Force Base Bulk Fuels Facility project from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial. SANTA FE — Prescribed pile burn ignitions will begin today, Nov. 14, in the Jemez and Cuba Ranger Districts, and Friday, Nov. 15, in the Española Ranger District.

Pile burning is meant to treat slash such as branches, piled by thinning crews with the aim to reduce flammable fuels and mitigate the risk of large high intensity wildfires.

Nordic Trail Closed Due To Snowy Conditions

COUNTY News:

The Nordic trails are closed due to recent snow and melt-off. These conditions affect the usability of the trails, and additional time may be needed for the ground to be ready when it is highly saturated.

As a reminder, this closure also applies to walkers, hikers and snowshoers.

Golf Course staff are actively monitoring conditions, and the community will be notified as soon as skiing and snowshoeing are allowed to resume.

SANTA FE — Three state agencies—the Departments of Transportation, Tourism and Environment—have collectively awarded $4.7 million in grants to 97 local entities, funding projects that aim to make New Mexico cleaner, greener and more beautiful.
