Valles Caldera Announces 2024 Summer Ranger Programs

JEMEZ SPRINGS — Valles Caldera Ntional Preserve invites community members to join a ranger this summer and experience the park like never before.

Rangers will be offering special programs throughout the season. Join a ranger to learn how to tie a fly, journal about nature, or learn about a special part of the park. Additional special programs that require reservations include fishing clinics, full-moon hikes, star-gazing programs, and astrophotography workshops.

BLM Seeks Comment On Supplemental Analysis Of January 2021 Oil And Gas Lease Sale In New Mexico

BLM News:

SANTA FE — The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office is seeking public comment on the supplemental analysis for oil and gas lease parcels initially included in the January 2021 Carlsbad Field Office Oil and Gas Lease Sale.

Jan. 29, 2021, the BLM issued a decision regarding the lease sale. BLM is now supplementing the analysis supporting that decision and will reassess the decision based on this new analysis.

The 30-day public comment period ends May 21, 2024. Interested parties may review the supplemental analysis and submit comments online via ePlanning.

SANTA FE – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced today that Seven Los Alamos Seniors and one from Albuquerque have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards. They are among approximately 770 distinguished high school seniors to receive the honor.

The community is invited to join Ranger Anthony Magdalena for a demonstration 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 1 at Coronado Historic Site.

Ranger Magdalena will discuss and teach about different aspects of traditional Pueblo Gardening.

This program is included with admission of $7/adult and free to children 16 years and younger.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department issued willful and serious citations with penalties of $637,311 to the City of Roswell following a six-month investigation by its Occupational Health and Safety Bureau (OHSB) into the fatal injury of a city utility worker.
