JEMEZ SPRINGS — The National Park Service invites artists from all creative disciplines and genres to apply for the 2024 Artist-In-Residence program at Valles Caldera National Preserve.

Valles Caldera National Preserve is one of more than 50 National Park Service sites that run an Artist-In-Residence program. Artists who participate in Valles Caldera’s program with have a two-or three-week residency in a historic lodge.

The Forest Service is analyzing the largest cutting and burning project ever proposed for the Santa Fe National Forest, the Encino Vista Landscape Restoration Project. The Preliminary Environmental Assessment was released March 15.

The project has been little publicized by the Forest Service. Only nine members of the public attended two recent meetings about the project environmental assessment.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) released updates for the month of March 2024 on the Enforcement Watch.

The Enforcement Watch is a listing of all active and resolved enforcement cases. Active cases involve an alleged violation of a regulation, rule, permit, license, etc. Resolved cases are those that were adjudicated in court of law or administratively resolved.

The Enforcement Watch also provides tools for the public to report alleged environmental or workplace safety violations.

JEMEZ SPRINGS – The National Park Service is seeking, horse-mounted, trespass cattle wrangling services at Valles Caldera National Preserve during the 2024 summer and fall seasons. JEMEZ SPRINGS – Starting today, anglers can visit Valles Caldera National Preserve’s (VCNP) Fishing web page (https://www.nps.gov/vall/planyourvisit/fishing.htm) to apply for their 2024-25 fishing permit.
