DUBAI — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham joined U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael S. Regan and White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi in announcing the final federal rules that will reduce emissions from the oil and gas industry.

Enforcement Watch Alert: 162 Enforcement Actions Initiated, 14 Enforcement Actions Resolved In November 2023

NMED News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) released updates for the month of November 2023 on the Enforcement Watch.

The Enforcement Watch is a listing of all active and resolved enforcement cases. Active cases involve an alleged violation of a regulation, rule, permit, license, etc.

Resolved cases are those that were adjudicated in court of law or administratively resolved. The Enforcement Watch also provides tools for the public to report alleged environmental or workplace safety violations.

Valles Caldera Plans 2023-24 Winter Prescribed Burns

NPS News:

JEMEZ SPRINGS — The National Park Service plans to implement prescribed burn projects in Valles Caldera National Preserve beginning December 2023 through the end of the 2023-24 winter season as conditions allow.

The prescribed burns will occur in previously thinned areas where materials have been piled for burning. The burn operations will be completed in phases over several days depending on weather and fuel conditions.

County Non-essential Facilities On 2-Hour Delay Friday

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne has ordered a delayed opening at 10 a.m. for all non-essential County government employees Friday, Dec. 1, due to hazardous weather conditions.

Some County services and facilities may be impacted:

On Oct. 31, 2021, the PBS weekend news ran a story on climate change from Portland, Maine. The story was about the increasing water levels in the Gulf of Maine which are now occasionally covering historic piers in Portland. The cause of this phenomenon is believed to be increasing temperatures in the Gulf of Maine due to climate change. The irony of this is that in the past 30 years the lobster population in the Gulf of Maine has quadrupled, also a result of the increasing water temperatures. After four long days of testimony and public comment the Environmental Improvement Board (EIB) decided recently to move forward with Gov. Lujan Grisham’s plan to follow California’s “clean vehicle” standard.

In practice that means New Mexico’s car dealers will have to increase sales of EVs in New Mexico from the current 3 percent of all new vehicles to 43 percent by summer of 2026 and 82 percent by summer of 2031.
