COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County issued a Trail Alert late this afternoon due to a water leak, water, dirt and debris having  run across the Canyon Rim Trail just east of the bridge.

The County advises trail users to be extra cautious in the area as it may become very icy as temperatures drop into the evening. Read More

Los Alamos County Public Works Department is under contract with Hasse Contracting Company Inc. to construct the Urban Trail Phase I & II Multi-use Trail Project.

During the week of Dec. 11, Hasse Contracting will begin construction activities within the Fuller Lodge Grounds adjacent to Central Avenue.

Prescribed Burns Planned In Coyote And Cuba Districts

SANTA FE — Fire crews have scheduled potential prescribed fires in both the Coyote and Cuba ranger districts as early as Monday, Dec. 11.

Operations will involve pile burns which are intended to reduce hazardous fuels, enhance wildlife habitat, and improve  forest health. The decision to proceed with each pile burn will depend on multiple factors, including persistent snowpack, air quality, ventilation, and resource availability.

County Eco Station & Overlook Convenience Center To Close Over Lunch Dec. 13 For Holiday Celebration

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Environmental Services Eco Station at 3701 East Jemez Road and Overlook Convenience Center at 500 Overlook Road, will close during the lunch hour noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 so staff may attend annual holiday celebrations.

“We appreciate our customers for understanding and allowing us this short break.”

Anyone needing to stop by the Eco Station or Overlook is asked to do so outside of the closure window.

Except for this short closure the Eco Station is open 7 days a week – 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m to 4:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
