BLM Selling Christmas Trees Around New Mexico

SANTA FE — Bureau of Land Management (BLM) offices will begin selling personal Christmas tree permits for harvest of piñon and juniper.

Permits will be available beginning Nov. 20 for the Farmington, Rio Puerco and Socorro Field Offices and Nov. 27 for the Taos Field Office. The permits must be purchased before Dec. 24. The cost per tree is $5. Permits and maps may be obtained over the counter at your local BLM Office or online for some locations at forestproducts.blm.gov.

After years of effort to bring the Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP) into fruition, the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) and NuScale Power Corporation announced last week that the project’s plug was pulled.

Los Alamos County joined the CFPP back in 2018.

“Despite significant efforts by both parties to advance the CFPP, it appears unlikely that the project will have enough subscriptions to continue toward deployment,” Los Alamos County stated in a press release.

I want to share my feelings regarding the county’s possible upcoming restrictions limiting our freedom to feed wild birds and animals on our own  property.

I recently read on the Mountain Lion Foundation website:
