WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) are part of a bicameral group of 43 colleagues urging President Joe Biden to issue a Major Disaster Declaration for all of Puerto Rico’s municipalities in response to Hurricane Fiona. The letter was led by U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.).

Final Closure Order Terminated On Cerro Pelado Burned Area

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) today rescinded the Jemez National Recreation Area flood risk closure order that was implemented after the Cerro Pelado Fire, effective at 8 a.m.

With the termination of Order 10-515, the public can now access popular recreation sites adjacent to NM Highway 4, including:

SFNF Waives Day-Use Fees On National Public Lands Day

SANTA FE — In celebration of National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites Saturday, Sept. 24.

As the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands, NPLD is an excellent opportunity for more Americans to get outdoors and connect with their public lands.

SFNF: Post-Fire Recovery Effort Includes Firewood Deliveries To Communities

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe and Carson national forests have been working this summer to provide free wood to community partners in areas affected by the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire and related closures.

Governor Signs Emergency Declaration For Catron County Due To Flooding

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Friday signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Catron County due to recent severe flooding, making available additional funding and state resources for affected communities.

The emergency declaration comes after monsoon rain events that began in August caused flooding that has resulted in damage to both private and public property.

Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced that New Mexico’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Deployment Plan has been approved by the Biden-Harris administration, under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, established and funded by the Infrastructure Law that Senator Heinrich championed into law.
