Tres Piedras Shooting Range Closing For Cleanup Sept. 21
TRES PIEDRAS — The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) will close its Tres Piedras Shooting Range 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 and reopen at sunrise Thursday, Sept. 22.
The range will be closed to allow department staff to safely clean up trash and debris on the shooting range.
Public access to the range will be restricted on this day.
The department wants to remind the public to recreate responsibly, pack out all of your shooting trash, including shell casings and targets, and not to shoot at glass or other items not designed to be shot at on the range. Read More

SANTA FE — Today, Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) launched a new website: Climate Action Now NM.
The site will provide information on key aspects of the climate crisis in the state, showcasing the work that has already been accomplished and what remains to be done. It also calls on state legislators to prioritize policy action that transitions the state to a zero-emissions economy by 2050.

SANTA FE — Earlier this year, the Supreme Court of the State of New Mexico upheld a Court of Appeals judgement, which ordered Cody W. Davis of Arnegard, North Dakota to pay $74,000 in restitution to the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) (department) for poaching a trophy mule deer buck in December 2015.

Governor Signs Emergency Declaration For Hidalgo County Due To Severe Flooding

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Tuesday announced that she has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Hidalgo County due to recent severe flooding, making available additional funding and state resources for affected communities.
The emergency declaration comes after monsoon rain events that began in August have resulted in flooding that broke the all-time record water level for the Gila River water gauge near the Village of Virden and resulted in damage to both private and public property.
