NNSA Announces Public Meetings For LANL Sitewide Environmental Impact Statement
NNSA News:
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) will conduct two online public scoping meetings in September to provide information about and receive public input on the scope and alternatives that should be considered in the Draft Site-Wide Environmental Impact Statement (SWEIS) for Continued Operation of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
NNSA identified and assessed alternatives for continued operation of LANL:
- (1) No-Action Alternative: Continue Current Operations;
- (2) Modernizing Current Operations Alternative; and
- (3) Expanded Operations Alternative,
DOI Awards New Mexico $25M For Orphan Well Clean-Up

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the Energy Minerals and Natural Resources Department announced that the U.S. Department of the Interior has awarded New Mexico an Orphan Wells Initial Grant of $25 million to clean up abandoned oil and gas wells on state and private lands in New Mexico through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The Initial Grant award is effective Oct. 1, 2022, and the state will have approximately a year to obligate the funds for projects on state and private land.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) announced that the Outdoor Recreation Division, Outdoor New Mexico and CNM Ingenuity are hosting the First-Annual Adventure Pitch Event with $15,000 in Cash Prizes.
The startup pitch event for outdoor companies is Oct. 7 at the Outdoor Economics Conference in Taos. Outdoor startups have until Sept. 4 to apply.
