Los Alamos County Parks Division Reminds Public: No Fishing In Ashley Pond Park
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Parks Division would like to remind the public there is no fishing in Ashley Pond Park.
Parks employees have received several calls and complaints recently from individuals who have witnessed others fishing in the Pond, prompting this reminder.
“Although there is no ordinance preventing fishing, the park is the center piece of our town and an area for recreational use and enjoyment, but is not intended for fishing activities,” Parks Superintendent Wendy Parker said.

SANTA FE — Districts on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) and Carson National Forest most impacted by the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire are issuing free personal-use fuelwood permits for up to five cords of dead and down timber.
SFNF free-use permits will be valid for collecting firewood on the Pecos/Las Vegas District outside the current fire closure. Permit holders will receive load tags, a fuelwood cutting map and guidelines for harvesting the wood.

ONRT Seeks Public Comment On Draft Addendum To Restoration Plans For Two Albuquerque Superfund Sites

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Office of Natural Resources Trustee (ONRT) announced recently that it has identified a proposed project to create new floodplain habitat along the Bosque and enhance public use of the area through new trails utilizing remaining funds from natural resource injury settlements at the AT&SF Tie Treater and South Valley Superfund sites.
The project is described in a draft addendum to previously approved natural resource restoration plans and ONRT is seeking public comment before finalizing the plan.

SANTA FE — April 21, the Greater Santa Fe Fireshed Coalition (GSFC), in partnership with the Fire Adapted New Mexico Learning Network (FACNM), and the Forest Stewards Guild, hosted a field tour of Pacheco Canyon to discuss the history of wildfire resilience treatments in the area, including how thinning and prescribed fire treatments slowed the 2020 Medio Fire’s forward progress.

Governor Signs Emergency Declaration For Village Of Cuba Due To Water System Damage

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Friday announced that she has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Sandoval County due to damage to the Village of Cuba’s water system infrastructure, making funding available to supplement the water supply to the affected community.
The Village of Cuba is faced with aging water infrastructure and is already in the design phase for a nearly $5 million project to upgrade and improve the village’s drinking water system.
