DPU Announces Annual Water Festival Is Online

COUNTY News:

For several years, the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has hosted an annual water festival in April for Los Alamos fourth grade students that is planned and carried out by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC).

Hundreds of students gather at the University of New Mexico – Los Alamos and engage in hands-on water activities. This year with the public health emergency issued by New Mexico Department of Health, PEEC has incorporated the festival in to the “Take It Outside” online series.

EPA Takes Action To Guide Health And Safety Decisions At Cleanup Sites During COVID-19 Pandemic

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Friday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued interim guidance to the Agency’s regional offices to ensure that decisions about new or ongoing cleanup activities at sites across the country are made with the health and safety of communities, state and tribal partners, EPA staff, and contractors as the priority.

The interim guidance focuses on decision making at emergency response and longer term cleanups sites where EPA is the lead agency or has direct oversight of, or responsibility for, the cleanup work.
