New Mexico Trout Project Receives Grant Funding

The Western Native Trout Initiative (WNTI) is awarding more than $200,000 in grant funding for eight projects that benefit native trout species across the western United States.
 
The community-based projects are funded through the National Fish Habitat Action Plan and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. SFNF: Sales Of Fuelwood Permits Resume At Pueblo Of Jemez Welcome Center

SANTA FE The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will keep its satellite office at the Pueblo of Jemez Welcome Center, also known as the Walatowa Visitor Center, open after all.
 
That means that fuelwood permits and other Forest Service products will be available for sale there Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

SANTA FE Fire managers on the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are planning to implement the previously announced Stable Canyon prescribed burn on the Jemez Ranger District as early as Saturday if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and forecasted weather, remain favorable.
 
Crews will use hand and aerial ignitions to treat the 1,595-acre Stable Canyon unit east of Porter Landing. Depending on conditions, it may take up to three days to complete operations on Stable Canyon.

SANTA FE – The State Land Office has hired two new staff within the first ever Office of Renewable Energy. Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard requested and received funding during the 2019 Legislative Session to create the Office of Renewable Energy in order to help the Land Office reach a goal of tripling the generation of renewable energy on state trust land.
