The Los Alamos Garden Club (LAGC) will host its Annual Plant Sale, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Los Alamos Nature Center, 2600 Canyon Road.
Perennials, house plants and succulents will be available for purchase. Club members will be there to discuss the plants and how to care for them.
A wide selection of beautiful garden aprons also will be available. Both full bib aprons and short half aprons have been lovingly and skillfully crafted by Garden Club members.

Court-Ordered Injunction Halts Fuelwood Permit Sales

Under a recent court-ordered injunction, the five national forests in New Mexico and the Tonto National Forest in Arizona have suspended all permit sales for collecting fuelwood.
The federal court’s ruling is related to the recent court-ordered injunction in the case WildEarth Guardians vs. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, et al, concerning the Mexican spotted owl.

The Baca family had wanted it for sheepherding. Sheepherding grew in size after the 1880’s before declining in the 1940s. Up to 100,000 sheep were brought annually to the Valles Caldera to graze on its meadows.
