News Alert: Water Main Break On San Ildefonso Road

News Alert:

A water main break has occurred on San Ildefonso Road on North Mesa and customers east of Camino Uva may experience little to no water pressure.

Department of Public Utilities crews estimate water will be restored by midnight.

Department officials offer the following consideration to customers once water is restored:
 
  • Water may at first appear murky due to entrained air. This problem will resolve itself in a day or so;

Every year the cost to collect and transport trash in Los Alamos County to the landfill rises, and the annual price tag is already pretty hefty. As the cost rises so does the amount of waste filling up the landfill.

The Environmental Sustainability Board’s (ESB) Save-As-You-Throw (SAYT) Research Subcommittee is considering new options that could not only reduce the amount of waste trucked to the landfill but also allow for more equity and control over residents’ trash collection fees.

Museum Of Space History Partners With KRWG For Free Film Preview: Chasing The Moon

ALAMOGORDO The New Mexico Museum of Space History and KRWG TV will present a free screening of the new PBS documentary Chasing the Moon at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, in the New Horizons Dome Theater.

Goat Fence Installed At Lemonade Living Lot

Thanks to a donation from 100+ Women Who Care to purchase fencing materials, Lemonade Living volunteers spent Sunday installing goat fencing on one of the nonprofit organization’s lots at the North Mesa Stables. Raising goats and making goat products are part of a ‘Farm to Kitchen’ project aimed at providing occupational and vocational training as well as employment opportunities for local young adults with special needs. In April of 2017, writer Kyle Dickman of Los Alamos went on a wildflower walk in Yosemite with his family, including his then 3-month-old son.
 
On that outing he was bitten by a rattlesnake. The next six hours were harrowing. After being extracted by helicopter from the canyon, he spent eight days in the hospital.
