U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt announced that 32 local governments in New Mexico including Los Alamos County are receiving a total of $40.2 million under the 2019 Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program, demonstrating the Trump Administration’s commitment to local communities.

The bill (H.R.3195), the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act, is a House companion to S. 1081 and was introduced by Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.), Committee Chair Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).

SFNF Plans Prescribed Burn In Jemez This Week

SANTA FE Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are planning to implement the previously announced Tent Rocks prescribed burn on the Jemez Ranger District this week if conditions remain favorable.
 
Ignitions could begin as early as Wedensday, June 19, and are expected to conclude by Friday, June 21.
 
The Tent Rocks treatment area is approximately 2 miles north of Jemez Springs, and less than 1 mile southwest of La Cueva.
