SANTA FE  Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) plan to proceed with the previously announced prescribed burn near Nichols Reservoir in the lower Santa Fe Municipal Watershed as early as April 2, if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality, wind direction and weather forecasts, remain favorable.
 
Up to 500 acres, including 50 acres of piles, will be treated with hand and aerial ignitions.

Game & Fish: Expect Roadblocks Statewide During Hunting And Fishing Seasons

SANTA FE The Department of Game and Fish will conduct roadblocks throughout the state during hunting and fishing seasons to collect harvest data and to detect wildlife law violations.
 
The 2019-2020 hunting and fishing season begins April 1. All hunters and anglers are required to purchase a new license before hunting and fishing. Anglers can expect roadblocks throughout the summer. Guides and outfitters are also reminded that new registration is required.

The Los Alamos Fire Department has 25 firefighters responding to a 4 acre fire down in Los Alamos Canyon now known as the Omega Fire burning near the Canyon Rim Trailhead – eastern edge of Los Alamos, south side, across N.M. 502 and the Los Alamos Co+op Market and Holiday Inn Express.

News Alert: Water Break On Trinity Drive

COUNTY News:

Crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities have responded at about 11:30 a.m. today to a water break on Trinity Drive, west of 20 Street and across from Ashley Pond Park.

Mobilization of traffic control devices and excavation equipment was expected to occur around noon.

East bound traffic will be affected. For the safety of the crews and public, motorists are advised to slow down and obey traffic signs.

Volunteers Sought For Public Lands Clean Up Event

SANTA FE – The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico, in partnership with Santa Fe County,  is seeking volunteers for an upcoming public lands clean up event in the Santa Fe area.

The event is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 13 in the Camel Tracks Shooting Range area near County Road 56.

“We’ll be cleaning up debris from shooting activities, as well as household trash that has been illegally dumped in the area,” said Justin Dean, BLM Law Enforcement officer and organizer of the event.
