The Pajarito Astronomers is holding its first County-Sponsored Dark Night of 2019 starting at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 6 at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park in White Rock.  
 
Weather permitting, the public is invited to come out, wander among the telescopes and star gaze.
 
The moon and the planet Mars will potentially be visible during the evening. There will be a tour of the late-winter and spring constellations and there will be telescope views of double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies.

SANTA FECommissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard announced this morning a new Executive Order mandating all 9 million surface acres under the control of the State Land Office adhere to permanent daylight saving time hours. 

Sen. Cliff Pirtle (R-32), leading advocate for making New Mexico a state with year-round daylight saving time said, “I appreciate the land office taking the first step on an important issue that is critical to saving lives.”

LAFD: New Mexico Gas Inline Inspections Begin Today

LAFD News:

New Mexico Gas is conductung its DOT required In-line Inspection on the Los Alamos DOE 12” Transmission Pipeline.

This project consists of running a tool, normally called a pig, inside the pipeline to assess the integrity of the pipe itself. The project starts at Los Alamos West, near the Quemazon community, down to Los Alamos East, which is right off N.M. 502 and Camino Entrada.

At some point during this project, blowing down small amounts of gas at Los Alamos West is required to put the tool inside the line and gas venting will be necessary at the Los Alamos East station for a short time Read More

With apricot trees blooming all over the Espanola Valley, spring is definitely here. People with allergies are starting to suffer as juniper pollen fills the air. The spring winds are starting to blow and the snow is starting to melt. The lower elevation snowpack is disappearing rapidly. A lot of snow still remains at high elevations thanks to our wet winter. Rivers are beginning to rise and soon some spring flowers like daffodils and tulips will begin to bloom if they haven’t already.
