Supermoon Illuminates Sky Over Los Alamos
There is an amazing spectacle in the sky tonight as the first supermoon in almost 70 years appears. In fact, if you’re younger than 68 you have never witnessed this record-breaking supermoon in your lifetime. Tomorrow morning, Nov. 14, the moon will be the closest it has been to Earth since 1948. It will appear 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the average monthly full moon. The next supermoon is scheduled to appear Nov. 25, 2034. Vadito — Sipapu Ski Resort officials announce the ski area is delaying its opening a week due to unseasonably warm weather. The resort was originally scheduled to open Saturday, Nov. 12, one of the earliest openings in resort history.

The Los Alamos Nature Center Panetarium will kick off the weekend at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 with an astronomy show by astrophysicist Galen Gisler that will investigate what is known about the origins of the universe.
Prehistoric sea creatures will come to life on the planetarium dome at 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13, when fossil hunters reveal findings in remote locations and a prehistoric story unfolds.

This guided hike down Blue Dot Trail includes great views, interesting petroglyphs, natural springs, and 1,000 feet of elevation gain—all the climbing is on the return trip. WIPP Rock Fall Causes Precautionary Evacuation
WIPP News:
Employees evacuated the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) underground around 2:30 p.m. today in response to a reported rock fall. There were no injuries and no release of radiological contamination.
Employees working in the area of Panel 7 in the WIPP underground reported a loud noise and observed salt dust indicating a possible rock fall. The employees reported the incident to the Central Monitoring Room (CMR) and the CMR ordered an evacuation of the underground.
