All Santa Fe National Forest Offices To Close For Training
SANTA FE — All Santa Fe National Forest offices, including the Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe will be closed Wednesday, April 2 for employee training.

Wildfire Contained To Acre At East Fork In The Jemez Today
Sandoval County and the U.S. Forest Service responded this afternoon to a small wildfire at East Fork in the Jemez Mountains. A Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) response was not requested.
Residents may see and smell smoke in the area, but LAFD officials indicate there is no cause for alarm. The fire was contained to one acre, and crews will remain on scene to ensure no flare-ups.
LAFD reminds the community to be extra cautious and aware of the concerning fire conditions following the dry winter season.

Alcove House Temporarily Closed Starting March 31, 2025 At Bandelier For Flood Debris Removal

Bandelier National Monument’s Alcove House will be temporarily closed starting Monday, March 31, 2025.
The park is beginning flood debris removal in that area, and work is expected to last up to five weeks.
Portions of the Cottonwood Overflow Parking Lot will also be closed during this time. It is recommended that visitors arrive to Bandelier before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m. to avoid parking lot congestion.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bird flu cases are rising rapidly in the United States and around the world. A new study traces how the disease spread over the last two decades from Asia to Europe, Africa and the Americas. New bird species, from pelicans to peregrine falcons, are catching and carrying the disease, the study finds.
