DaVita Los Alamos Dialysis at 3917 West Road Suite G-02, behind Los Alamos Medical Center, is withdrawing its participation in the Medicare program and permanently closing its doors effective Sept. 30, 2019.

NMED Seeks Information About Illegal Dumping

PICURIS PUEBLO — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) needs the public’s help in reporting and identifying illegal dumping into water bodies.
Last week, Picuris Pueblo found evidence of raw sewage in the Rio Pueblo, including toilet paper and other solids.
Within an hour, the Pueblo restricted access to the river as a precautionary measure. After the Pueblo contacted NMED, Surface Water Quality Bureau and Pueblo staff jointly sampled the river at the Pueblo and several miles downstream.

New Mexico Human Services Department Reaches Settlement With Two More Behavioral Health Providers

HSD News:SANTA FE ― The New Mexico Human Services Department has reached settlement agreements with two more behavioral health organizations to whom Medicaid payments were frozen in 2013 by the Martinez administration. Settlement agreements were reached with:
- TeamBuilders Counseling Services, Inc.; and
- Counseling Associates, Inc.
Last month HSD announced it had settled with:
- Hogares, Inc;
- Valencia Counseling Services, Inc.; and
- The Counseling Center, Inc.
HSD has now settled half of these agreements, which were made in the interest of amicably resolving all

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is investigating possible cases of lung disease that are associated with vaping.
A 29-year old male from Bernalillo County was determined to have vaping-associated lung disease and three additional cases are under investigation. All have reported use of vape cartridges, possibly containing Tetra hydro cannabinol (THC). There have been similar cases reported in at least 14 other states.

These full day RAs are Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Santa Fe Community College, 6401 Richards Ave. in Santa Fe.

ABIQUIU LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that effective immediately the Cerrito Day-Use Recreation Area, including the boat ramp and the swim beach, are closed after tests showed the presence of a blue-green algae bloom in the reservoir.
The closure will last until levels no longer pose an increased threat to humans and animals.
Closure signs are posted at the lake’s public access points.
The lake is still open for camping

WASHINGTON, D.C. ― Friday, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representatives Ben Ray Luján, Deb Haaland and Xochitl Torres Small announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded more than $6 million in funding to New Mexico to combat the opioid epidemic in communities across the state.
