Officials with the New Mexico Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association plan to stage an Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day at the State Capitol during the January legislative session.
The event will provide a valuable opportunity for all who are, or have been, affected by the disease to discuss, advocate and increase awareness of Alzheimer’s with state legislators, they said.

NMDOH Releases Top Baby Names For 2018
NMDOH News:
The New Mexico Department of Health has released the top New Mexico baby names for 2018.
The most popular girl names are Isabella, Mia and Sophia. The most popular boy names are Noah, Liam and Elijah.
Making their debut in the top 10 are Camila, Mila and Sofia, another way of spelling Sophia. For the boys, those debuting on the list are Mason, Benjamin and Julian.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) recently announced the first flu-related death reported for the 2018-2019 flu season.
The death occurred in a woman 65-years or older from Lincoln County. Her death is a important reminder that flu can cause serious illness or death, particularly among persons at risk for flu-related complications.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) and Public Education Department report 41 public elementary schools in seven New Mexico counties are being awarded a total of $30,500 for their efforts in the Healthier US Schools Challenge (HUSSC) award from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
