COVID-19 Closes WR Senior Center But Lunch Is Served!
The White Rock Senior Center is closed due to a positive COVID-19 case, but lunch is being served today both inside and at the drive-thru outside.
Los Alamos County will take extra cleaning measures to ensure safety.
The senior center hopes to re-open as soon as possible, but that might not happen today, as both centers are short staffed. Once allowed to enter the building, senior center staff will begin to contact trace anyone who was in the building Tuesday.

Heinrich, Boozman Raise Concern On Proposed Veterans Affairs Department Reimbursement Rate Cuts For Air Ambulances
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and John Boozman (R-Ark.), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) funding, are raising concerns about a proposed rule that would reduce the reimbursement rates for air ambulances at the VA.
The senators sent a letter to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough calling on him to consider the potential adverse impacts of this rule on health care delivery for veterans living in rural areas.

LAPD To Hold Drug Take Back Day Saturday Oct. 29
On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day.
This event will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. in the North parking lot (off Central Avenue) of the LAPD.
The following items will not be accepted: Needles/sharps, any liquids or creams, and aerosol/ compressed medications.
For this event, LAPD will have supplies available for people to dispose of their liquids, creams and aerosols on site. A sharps container also will be available for anyone to drop of their injectable medications.
