Hybrid Public Meeting To Discuss Depressurization Of Flanged Tritium Waste Containers Aug. 20 At SALA

The U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) Los Alamos Field Office and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) will hold a hybrid public meeting to discuss the controlled depressurization of headspace gas from four flanged tritium waste containers (FTWCs) at Technical Area 54, Area G, at LANL.
The meeting is 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at SALA Los Alamos Event Center, 2551 Central Ave.

Stirling Auchincloss Colgate (Los Alamos Ranch School 1940–1943) was born in New York City and died in 2013 in Los Alamos, NM.
Stirling Colgate was one of the last four graduates of Los Alamos Ranch School, along with his classmates William “Bee” Barr, Theodore “Ted” Church, and Collier Baird. Intensified studies allowed them to graduate on Jan. 28, 1943, and enter colleges at mid-year.

LANL: Community Relations Plan For Hazardous Waste Facility Permit — Request For Input
The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) generates some hazardous and mixed waste. In November 2010, the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) issued LANL Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (EPA ID Number NM0890010515-1).
The Permit establishes standards for how LANL manages, stores and treats hazardous wastes on-site and for the closure and post-closure care of permitted waste management units.
In compliance with the permit, LANL updates a Community Relations Plan annually, pending input from the public.
