Pastor Granillo: Second Fiddle

By Pastor Raul Granillo
Los Alamos

“The most difficult instrument to play in the orchestra is second fiddle.” —Leonard Bernstein

I played the tenor sax in the school band during 6th and 7th grade. It was there that I learned about “chair” position. A friend of mine, Casey, also played the tenor sax, and I remember constantly competing against him for first chair. Casey held that position for the vast majority of my short lived musical career. On the bright side, I like to think I rocked my second chair position!

What didn’t occur to me at the time was that Casey, although

Ask your friends what they dislike about their pantry and you’ll likely get “it’s too small” or “I can’t find anything!”  I hear these complaints often. Clearly, a pantry takes careful planning.

Whether you’re building a new kitchen or remodeling, you need to consider what makes a pantry work and which kind is best for your situation. There are three main types of pantries: cabinets, reach-ins and walk-ins. There is also a hybrid pantry/mudroom/laundry room that the homeowner walks through as they enter the house.

The Jemez Agency

First, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  And with it being turkey day I thought I would do an article on something I haven’t done personally, but is apparently quite popular.

One of the most popular ways of preparing that Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey is deep-frying.  Unfortunately it is also one of the fastest growing causes of home fires resulting in millions of dollars in damage and numerous injuries and deaths. But if it’s done correctly and safely, a deep-fried turkey can be a delicious part of your holiday feast.

2016 Thanksgiving Thankful List

TOM GARRISON
St. George, Utah

My wife, Deb, and I enjoy our life in red rock southern Utah and have many things for which we are thankful. I hope sharing them brings a smile and acknowledgement that even the seldom thought of can be a source of thankfulness.

1. I appreciate earth’s large moon. It is waaay larger in relation to the size of the earth than any other moon in the solar system. At about 2,159 miles in diameter, our moon is larger than Pluto. It moderates the tilt of the earth’s rotational axis which produces fairly constant seasonal changes over millennia. This in turn means once life gets started Read More
