By Pastor RAUL GRANILLOWhen we were kids, my mom had rules that we had to follow. They were nothing out of the ordinary: be in by 6 p.m. on a school night, always let her know where we were, no dessert unless we ate all our vegetables, do our chores and homework before going out to play, etc.
Like I said, there was nothing really out of the ordinary about them, but my siblings and I sure hated having rules. I couldn’t wait until I was an adult and I would be free from the oppressive rule of my parents. I would stay out as late as I wanted; I would go wherever I wanted—whenever I wanted; I would never make Read More

ACT staff reponds quickly to citizen concern over placement of bus stop in White Rock. Photo by Dan GabelWe all realize that the new ACT bus routes would have a few kinks to be ironed out.
I want to commend ACT for their quick response to a dangerous bus stop. When I got off the bus this morning, the stop had been moved half a block up Rover Boulevard so folks no longer need to balance on the curb or be in traffic near the busiest intersection in White Rock. Within two days of pointing out the issue, ACT staff had it done.
Thank you ACT! Read More

Pastor Granillo: A Jealous God
By Pastor RAUL GRANILLOHe that is not jealous is not in love. —St. Augustine
Being called jealous is not typically a compliment. When people are considered to be jealous, they are thought to be in a state of mind that is ugly, selfish, insecure, and even harmful. These are things that are in direct contrast to what we think of when we think of love; so it can be very difficult for us to reconcile jealousy with love. But does that really mean they are in opposition?
What jealousy implies, or reveals about us, is likely the reason we don’t think very highly of it. Consider this, if you are the person Read More
