Solo Traveler: Round the World Travel – Packing Light
Sherry Hardage is currently exploring Thailand. This is a spirit house, a little edifice for the displaced spirits when a building or house is built on land the spirits inhabited. They are given food, drink and incense every morning by the new owners of the land, and the squirrels benefit from everyone’s generosity. Photo by Sherry Hardage

How the Hen House Turns: Turkey and Bobbi Goose … A Hint of Wildness
How the Hen House TurnsHere’s another exploration of what it means to be wild. Take Turkey (Little Bear), for example. She’s now about 11 years old, raised by two adoptive loving mothers—both White Silkie hens in our small community of geese, ducks, bird-sitting dogs, and a human providing semi-reliable afternoon treats of apple cores and honeydew melon rinds.
I wouldn’t call her wild, except when she trapped and nearly killed a marauding crow, and when she decides she doesn’t Read More

Exciting New Ingredients Shown to Stimulate Skin Cell Growth
Skincare ColumnOne of the most exciting ingredients recently introduced into advanced clinical skin care products for home use is epidermal growth factor, or EGF.
This substance has been shown to stimulate the growth of new skin cells, making products containing EGF an excellent addition to an anti-aging home care regimen. The daily use of EGF encourages aging skin to function more like young skin by stimulating increased cell turnover to thicken and strengthen the skin and speed healing when injury does occur. Solo Traveler: Tourist vs. Traveler
Solo Traveler: Tourist vs. Traveler“The traveler sees what he sees; the tourist sees what he has come to see.” – Gilbert K. Chesterton
I ran across this quote some time ago. It reminded me of a discussion I had with an old (we dated back in high school) boyfriend. He said he loved to travel, and he traveled only with Grand Circle and National Geographic tours, both of which are excellent companies. He described how many places he’d been and how much information he had acquired in very short periods of time.
His description sounded like he spent a lot of money Read More
How the Hen House Turns: A Little More About Peacocks
How the Hen House TurnsJust a moment to honor one tough, honorable, bird. He came to visit every day for a while, sometimes slept on top of the Hen House or high up in the Ponderosas that inhabit our back yard.
He appeared in the morning when Bobbie goose heard the water running and started honking, “Let me out of here.” Then he waited on the Hen House roof or the chicken pen fence until I filled water pans and set out lay pellets for my ten birds. He sometimes pecked a bit at the food and drink I left for him on the roof, Read More
