Fr. Glenn: Goal!

By Fr. Glenn Jones:

(Sigh). Trouble again in Israel—always quite worrisome. Back and forth will weapons be lobbed to the inevitable destruction and death of many. Often smaller conflicts blaze up into much larger conflagrations; let us pray that that doesn’t occur. For instance, who would have thought at that time that the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand by a Serbian nationalist would have been the spark to set all Europe ablaze as World War I?

Now, this Monday (October 9) is Columbus Day—celebrated by many as the discovery and beginning of the settlement of the New Word, and disdained by Read More

In one of the most famous “about-faces” of all times, the apostle Paul, who ruthlessly persecuted and murdered Christians, received a severe wakeup call from God. Convinced of the error of his ways, he then set as his life’s mission the proclamation – in word AND actions – of the love of God in the death and resurrection of Christ. He was largely responsible for the tremendous growth Read More

Over the past several years, I’ve been on a mission to visit all 63 of our country’s National Parks. The majority are easily accessible, but there are several that require a little extra effort, like the Channel Islands.

Touted as the “Galapagos of the North”, Channel Islands National Park is situated in the Pacific Ocean, just off the Ventura coast in California. Comprised of five islands – Anacapa, Read More

Poblano chile is a new pepper variety on our farm. We tested them this year and had about a dozen plants on the far edge of the field near the Big Jims. They are originally from Puebla, Mexico and were cultivated thousands of years ago long before the Spanish arrived. They are a beautiful dark green and their shape is wide and flat making them ideal for stuffing.

I first fell in love with them when I was frequently traveling to Mexico while working on the establishment of El Camino Real de Tierra Read More
