Los Alamos County Council honored County election officials during its meeting Tuesday night.
Councilor Keith Lepsch read the recognition:
WHEREAS, election officials are the cornerstone of democracy and play a vital role in ensuring a free and fair election in the County of Los Alamos, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, election officials receive comprehensive training and take an oath to faithfully uphold the New Mexico Constitution and the Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS, many election officials are veterans, retirees, or seniors who continue to serve our nation through their participation in the election process; and
WHEREAS, election officials represent a diverse range of political affiliations-including Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, those affiliated with a minor party or, Declined to State-but prioritize the integrity of the election process over party lines to ensure fairness and transparency; and
WHEREAS, election officials assist thousands of voters in their communities, providing essential support and ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, election officials dedicate countless hours, from the beginning of early voting on October 8th to Election Day on November 5th, as well as the post-election process of tallying results.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, we hereby recognize
LOS ALAMOS COUNTY’S ELECTION OFFICIALS
and express our deepest gratitude for their expertise, commitment, and dedication in conducting an accurate, transparent, and fair election that faithfully represented the will of all registered voters in Los Alamos County.
