Leonard: Lack Confidence? Gain It Now By Embracing Life’s Struggles

I was suffering from writers block today and decided the best way to cure it was to go for a mountain bike ride. This led me to an ‘ah-ha’ moment as I decided to roll through a personally dreaded section of rocks, which have taken me down a couple of times. Not fun and quite painful to say the least. Today’s attempt yielded success. I rolled through the jaws of death quite smoothly, letting out a loud ‘woohoo’ to celebrate the occasion.
The ‘ah-ha’ moment came with the realization that it’s the ability to persevere through life’s bumps and negative experiences Read More

The last big holiday weekend of summer is coming up. Labor Day is Sept. 5 and the three-day weekend will see crowds of campers and anglers packing the most popular fishing spots. Campsites are likely already reserved.
Big game hunting seasons have already begun with hunters stalking the prairies of New Mexico for pronghorn antelope. Despite their name, they are not a true antelope, but a species unique to North America. Wonderfully adapted to the ecosystem they have evolved in. They are the second-fastest animal on the planet. View of the washed out Woodland Trail. The trough shape of this trail traps water and forces it to run along the trail bed, cutting deeper and causing more damage with each rain storm. Fixing this kind of damage with hand tools will take many hours and many volunteers. Courtesy/Chris Collard

Vision in leadership is essential, because the future holds significant change. We must have leadership that can see into the future and prepare for the events coming at us.
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) staffing is exploding. For most of my career, LANL staffing was at about 10,000 employees. Housing was tight when I moved here 41 years ago. Our housing supply has remained stagnant. I have known some county
Home Country By Slim Randles: Missing Guv Reeve
Home CountryLooking around at all the yard signs and hearing politicians tell us on television what a lying crook their competition is, I have to admit I miss Guv Reeve.
Guv had a real first name, but I sure don’t recall it now, because this was back in the 1960s and 1970s in the high desert of California. He had his first name legally changed to Guv so everyone would know what he was all about. Every four years, he ran for governor. I worked for the Victor Valley Daily Press in Victorville, which is just 30 miles from Barstow, where everyone’s car breaks down on the way to Vegas.

It has come to my attention that the New Mexico Supreme Court has taken it upon themselves to alter and revise the rules for admission of lawyers to the State Bar permitting and allowing illegal aliens to practice in the State!
I moved from Santa Fe to Los Alamos, New Mexico August 15, 1943, at the age of six when Los Alamos was the most secret city in the world. It was a highly regimented and regulated run community and laboratory that was strictly operated by the U.S. Federal Government and Military for the required need of security.
