ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Office of Housing has distributed more than $820,000 to shelters and service providers statewide to help people experiencing homelessness stay safe and warm this winter.

Connect New Mexico Landmark Broadband Infrastructure Pilot Program Is Completed

STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE — The Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) has announced that a landmark broadband infrastructure project in a remote subdivision in Chaves County is complete, providing high-speed internet to 52 rural homes in the Cherry Decker subdivision near the community of Hagerman.

With the project completed, these residents can now sign up for high-speed internet service.

The Chaves County project is OBAE’s first grant project to reach 100 percent completion and the first Connect New Mexico Pilot Program project funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Read More

Janet (Jan) Stratton McCall, age 86, peacefully departed this life in the UNM hospital on December 30, 2025, after a short illness. Her devoted husband, Gene McCall, was at her side. 

Jan was born and grew up in Brigham City, Utah. She was the daughter of Kenneth Leroy Murdock and Vera Bowdin Murdock. She had four sisters and a brother. Three of the sisters, La Dean, Sharon, and Darlene, and her brother, Daniel, preceded her in death.
