Piñon Elementary Earns 2025 Spark Change Award!

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) has announced that Piñon Elementary School in White Rock has been awarded a 2025 Spark Change Award.

This is the first year for these awards, launched by the Alumni of the Changemakers Fellowship as a new initiative to honor schools that demonstrate improved student outcomes can be achieved for all students.

Piñon Elementary received recognition for highest performing in mathematics for students with disabilities. This subgroup showed a 34.3 percent proficiency in mathematics in 2023-2024.

County Moves Q&A On MRA Session To Nov. 5

COUNTY News:

Due to a scheduling conflict, Los Alamos County has rescheduled its question-and-answer session to discuss Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (MRAs) in Los Alamos and White Rock to 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Boards and Commissions Room, 1000 Central Ave.

EDD Job Training Funds Support 225 More Employees

EDD News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) announced that its   Program (JTIP) will provide up to $2.2 million to 12 companies, supporting training for 225 employees across the state.

JTIP reimburses companies for at least 50% of trainee wages, with higher rates for rural jobs and for hiring recent graduates from New Mexico colleges and universities. JTIP also encourages companies to hire locally from underserved populations.
