Donald B. Davidson, Jr., was born on April 20, 1929, in Chicago, IL., the eldest son of Donald B. and Ruth M. Davidson. He was raised with his brother Duncan C. Davidson, Carmel, IN., (deceased) and his sister, Susan M. Merrell, Sun City, AZ. Don passed from this earthly life on July 6, 2025, at the age of 96.

FBI: Newcomb Man Pleads Guilty To Assault With Firearm

ALBUQUERQUE — A Newcomb man pleaded guilty to federal charges arising out of an altercation.
According to court documents, Feb. 28, 2025, James Smiley, Jr., 56, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, entered a residence within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation and pointed a firearm at three men while making threats to kill them without provocation.

LANL, NNSA Complete Tritium Waste Container Treatment
SANTA FE — Los Alamos National Laboratory and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) have informed the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) that they have completed treatment of four flanged tritium waste containers.
NNSA stated no significant emissions were released during the treatment process. NNSA monitored the total emissions to be around 0.005 millirems. For comparison, the exposure an individual receives during a round-trip cross-country flight is approximately 3.7 millirems.

FBI: Shiprock Man Pleads Guilty To Leading Massive Illegal Marijuana Operation And Polluting San Juan River
ALBUQUERQUE — Dineh Benally of Shiprock has pleaded guilty in federal court to leading a vast illegal marijuana cultivation and distribution ring.
The ring spanned several years, exploited workers, and polluted the San Juan River on tribal lands.
According to court documents, from approximately January 2018 to November 2020, Benally, 48, and his co-conspirators established more than 30 farms, covering more than 400 acres, on land obtained from Navajo Nation members.
Benally pleaded guilty to 15 counts:
- Two drug trafficking conspiracy charges for orchestrating the illegal

Steve Wallin went to be with the Lord Sept. 2, 2025, with family by his side, and we rejoice in knowing that he is now at home with his Savior.
Steve was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Salida, Colorado, to Peter and Bernice Wallin. Most of his early years were spent in Bonanza, Colorado, and Palacios, Texas. He was proud of his roots and loved both the Colorado mountains and the open water of the bay near Palacios.

Los Alamos Public Schools will begin accepting nominations for the 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1.
All submissions are due no later than Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
Since its inception in 2014, the Los Alamos High School Hall of Fame has inducted 60 members.
Nominees may be former student-athletes who attended Los Alamos High School and graduated from Los Alamos High School, former coaches or any individual who has made an outstanding contribution to or has had a significant impact on the LAPS athletic program.
