Los Alamos Police And LANL Collaborate To Locate Lab Subcontractor Wanted For Discharging Firearm Into Ceiling Of Local Hotel
LAPD News:
On the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, Los Alamos police officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn at 124 N.M. 4 in White Rock in response to a report of suspicious circumstances.
During the course of the investigation, officers determined that on the night of Saturday, Sept. 6, an individual staying in one of the hotel rooms had discharged a firearm into the ceiling of the room.
The individual was identified as Mathew True, a resident of Tehachapi, Calif., and a subcontractor at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

In a partnership with the Martha Liebert Public Library in Bernalillo, Coronado Historic Site offers a “Ranger Read and Learn” story time that is free and geared toward children ages 3–7 years old.
From 10–11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, we are going to talk about how the Pueblo people who lived at Kuaua Pueblo grew and used corn. A ranger will read the children’s book, “Corn/Maiz” by Doreen Gonzales, and then show children how to grind corn with a metate by hand and make simple piki bread. Caballo Lake State Park Opens Boat Ramp Due To Improved Water Levels

The elevation of Caballo Reservoir was reduced this summer as the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) removed excessive debris which began to impact the dam’s intake structure. Notification Of Depressurization Activities For Flanged Tritium Waste Containers

Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) will begin depressurization of four Flanged Tritium Waste Containers.
The operation is scheduled to take place over a two-week period and avoids impacting neighboring Pueblo Feast Days.
It also considers weather conditions to ensure activities occur at the best and safest time possible.

Santa Fe National Forest Announces Prescribed Fire Projects

SANTA FE —The Santa Fe National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations in September, pending all required approvals. We estimate this work to continue through the fall and winter as weather conditions allow.
Prescribed fire helps reduce overgrown vegetation to protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from catastrophic wildfires.

Roadwork Begins On NM 4 In Jemez Pueblo
NMDOT News:
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will begin a pavement preservation project on approximately 2.5 miles of NM 4 in Jemez Pueblo Sept. 15, 2025, weather permitting.
Roadwork will take place from mile marker 4.5 to 7.2 through the Pueblo of Jemez.
Work is expected to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting. Brasier Asphalt, the contractor for the District Six project, will perform work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A pilot car and flagger operation will be in place. Drivers should expect lane closures, delays, and plan travel accordingly. Read More
