BELC To Host Day Camp For Youth July 28-Aug.1

BELC News:

Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church (BELC) will host a week-long Day Camp for youth, Monday, July 28 to Friday, Aug. 1.

Designed for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade (in the fall), this camp is “a joyful and faith-filled experience”.

Youth entering 6th grade are invited to participate as junior counselors.

This year’s camp theme is “Cross Fit” – a fun play on fitness culture, with a spiritual twist.

Campers will explore Christian principles like commitment, community, overcoming plateaus, and transformation, all rooted in Scripture.

Public Review, Comment Period Begins For Wetland Assessment Addendum To LANL Waterline Replacement

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), a semi-autonomous agency within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is proposing new construction at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Supreme Court Affirms Felony Murder Convictions In Kidnapping And Killing Of Two Albuquerque Teenagers

The state Supreme Court today affirmed the first-degree felony murder convictions of Stephen Jay Goldman, Jr. stemming from the kidnapping and killing of two Albuquerque teenagers in 2018. Click here to read the nonprecedential decision in State v. Goldman, S-1-SC-40100.

SANTA FE — Insurance companies must offer uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM) on a per-vehicle basis in New Mexico and disclose the premiums for each of a consumer’s vehicles, the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled Monday.

UM/UIM coverage protects motorists when the other driver lacks enough insurance to pay for a person’s injuries and damages.

Oversized Crane Transport On NM502 Through Downtown To Los Alamos Ice Rink July 2

COUNTY News:

As part of the project to install a new chiller at the Los Alamos Ice Rink, a 140-ton crane and one tractor-trailer will be traveling through Downtown Los Alamos on route to the Ice Rink on West Road between 9 a.m. and noon, Wednesday July 2.

Due to its weight the crane and the tractor-trailer cannot cross the Omega Bridge and therefore will be traveling up the Main Hill on NM502/East Rd, then through Trinity Dr. to Diamond Dr. before turning onto West Rd. to the Ice Rink. If needed, the Los Alamos Police Department will provide escorts to the crane on its way up NM502 and travel through downtown. Read More

This past week marked the beginning of our so-called monsoon season. During the middle of the week there were frequent showers. Some areas around Ruidoso in the Sacramento Mountains experienced flash flooding.  

The weekend saw the weather turn hot and mostly dry. A similar weather pattern appears to be taking shape for the upcoming week. 

Be sure to pack some rain gear when you head out on a fishing trip this time of year.
