FBI: U.S. Attorney’s Office For District Of New Mexico Announces Intent To Seek Death Penalty For Labar Tsethlikai

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Today, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico filed a Notice of Intent to seek the death penalty against Labar Tsethlikai.

Tsethlikai, 52, an enrolled Member of Zuni Pueblo, is charged in a 17-count Second Superseding Indictment. 

Charges are as follows:

  • Count 1 (October 22, 2022): Kidnapping Resulting in Death of John Doe 1
  • Count 2 (January 18, 2024): First Degree Murder of John Doe 2
  • Count 3 (January 18, 2024): First Degree Felony Murder of John Doe 2

Upcoming Public Tours Of Los Alamos County’s Water Production Infrastructure

COUNTY News:

Three public tours of Los Alamos County’s water production infrastructure are scheduled for the second Fridays in July, August and September. The tours are free but space is limited! Tickets are available at ladpu.com/well.

Twenty dogs were surrendered to the shelter overnight last Saturday. Many shelters expect a 20 percent increase in their population following the two days after the 4th of July.

LAPD Asks Public’s Assistance Locating Missing Juvenile

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) received a call at approximately 9:44 a.m. today, July 1, reporting a missing juvenile, Sawyer Thronas, 11, of Los Alamos.

Thronas was reported last seen around 9 a.m. today on Woodland Road.

LAPD was provided with the following description of Thronas:

          • 11-year-old-female;
          • 5’4” tall;
          • Hispanic; and
          • Brown hair, with a possible blue tint.

Thronas was last seen wearing:

  • Dark gray oversized shirt;
  • Jeans; and
  • Black Converse-style shoes.

Senior Centers To Close For Independence Day

The Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center in Los Alamos and the White Rock Senior Activity Center will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

All regular activities and congregate meal services will be canceled for the day. Home Delivered Meal recipients will receive a frozen meal in advance of the holiday.
