Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) announced the introduction of the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Relief Act, legislation to provide dedicated Medicaid funds for home and community-based services (HCBS) for older adults, children, and youth and adults with disabilities for two years. FBI: Two Charged In ABQ Alien Harboring, Kidnapping Case
FBI News:
ALBUQUERQUE — Two men face federal charges for harboring illegal aliens after a kidnapping and human smuggling investigation in Albuquerque.
According to court documents, on March 1, 2025, a complainant told the FBI their spouse had been kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers demanded 90,000 quetzales (about $11,600) and threatened to turn the victim over to the Zeta Cartel if payment was not made. “Proof of life” videos were sent to the family.

County Customer Care, DPU Announce Closures This Week
COUNTY News:
The lobby-facing windows at the Los Alamos County Customer Care Center in the Municipal Building as well as the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) suite will be closed for 2.5 hours during the business day between 11:45 a.m.–2:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, while staff attends an annual employee picnic.
Additionally, DPU and the Customer Care Center will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday.

The federal holiday, observed on Thursday, June 19, is a Fee-Free Day.
SANTA Fe — All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) District Offices and the Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe will be closed Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
All offices will resume regular business hours Friday, June 20.
In observance of the federal holiday, June 19, is a Fee-Free Day. This means the Forest Service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency.
Enjoy the remaining Fee-Free Days of 2025:

John David Jolley II, known to those who loved him simply as David, died on June 9, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, just a few weeks after being diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.
