New Mexico Ranks Second Worst-Run State
STATE News:
The online news source 24/7 Wall St. has ranked New Mexico as the second-worst run state in the country, scoring better than California by only a small margin.
One measure that helped put it above California was its credit rating. Standard & Poor’s rates the state AA+, and Moody’s gives it a perfect Aaa rating. The state’s debt load relative to its size was average, and its budget shortfall of 8.3 percent for going into fiscal 2012 was better than many states.

The High Desert Discovery District (HD3) – the state’s privately lead high technology start-up accelerator – and its partners New Mexico Consortium and Los Alamos Commerce and Development Center – have announced they will extend the Los Alamos Discovery Day application deadline to Jan. 7.

Alert: Animal Clinic Seeks Owner of Cat Hit by Car

She is a long hair torti (black, brown, orange, with no microchip, but was wearing a purple flea collar.

Los Alamos STEM Challenge Spurs Student Creativity

In 2013, Los Alamos National Laboratory began a competition for students in grades six through 12 in northern New Mexico to help spur their creative thinking. As part of its ongoing STEM education efforts (where STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math), the Lab will hold the event again in 2014.

SANTA FE – New Mexico’s Legislative Health and Human Services Committee (LHHSC) has endorsed legislation, which requires more transparency and accountability of performing behavior health audits and secures avenues to keep in-state providers in business, while tightening up procurement policy.

Wilbert “Walt” Henry Meyers, 92, passed away December 13, 2013. Walt was born on July 20, 1921 in McPherson, Kansas to John and Amelia Meyer.
Walt met his wife, Mary Louise Hoefer when they were juniors in high school in Salina, Kansas. Their first date was a movie, and they were together for over 70 years. Walt and Mary were married December 4, 1942 in Washington D.C., where Walt was stationed in the Army. They raised six children, had ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
