Downtown Power Outage Affects Business Customers
DPU News:
Power was restored within 20 minutes to most Department of Public Utilities’ customers affected by the downtown electric outage that began just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
An underground electric line was hit during construction resulting in an outage along Trinity Drive between Levy Lane at the Century Link Building and DP Road; it also included some businesses on Nectar Street and 15th Street.

New NIST Tests Explore Safety of Nanotubes in Modern Plastics Over Time
Exposed to intense ultraviolet light and high temperatures, samples of epoxy containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes deteriorated. Exposure tended to destroy the epoxy, but on the surface remained a network of nanotubes, which NIST tests indicated were less damaged than the epoxy over time, ranging from approximately 6 months (A) to 18 months (B) to 4 years (C) in subtropical conditions. Fusion Multisport invites donations of gently used and new socks and shoes. Shoes are being collected for distribution to the Tarahumara people of the Copper Canyon region of Mexico.

Christmas Tubas Will Perform Carols

Nothing says Christmas quite like the sound of a brass choir performing carols. This choir happens to be composed of tubas, large and small, and is called Christmas Tubas.
The group was formed in 2002 by local musician Jerry Morzinski, who gathered other local musicians, including accomplished high school students. They play an eclectic mix of arrangements specifically created for a tuba choir. The first performance was in the Los Alamos library.
