Hands on Computer Training on Intellus Offered

LANL News:
The public is invited to a hands-on public computer-based training on how to search, graph and map LANL environmental data using Intellus from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 2 at UNM-Los Alamos, Room 306.
Intellus is a publicly accessible database that provides access to over 12 million environmental records collected by the Laboratory and the New Mexico Environment Department as part of environmental surveillance and compliance sampling activities in and around Los Alamos National Laboratory.

ALBUQUERQUE – Gov. Susana Martinez unveiled a proposal to invest an additional $2 million to boost water research and innovation in New Mexico.
Addressing the 58th Annual New Mexico Water Conference via video, Martinez called on the New Mexico Legislature to allocate $2 million dollars in additional funding to the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute (NMWRRI) during the upcoming legislative session. NMWRRI works to solve New Mexico’s pressing water problems through supporting research projects at New Mexico’s colleges and universities.

Snow Blankets Community
The statues of Oppenheimer and Groves wore a dusting of snow this morning in front of Fuller Lodge Art Center on Central Avenue. The National Weather Service reports more snow likely this afternoon for Los Alamos with a total accumulation of less than an inch and a high near 34 degrees. There is a 50 percent chance of snow tonight with a low around 26 degrees and a snow accumulation of an inch possible. More snow is likely Saturday of about 1-2 inches and a high near 35 degrees. School District Announces School Closures Policy

As winter approaches, we anticipate days when weather will present a challenge for school transportation either because of ice or snow or both.
These will be the days when school is delayed, cancelled, or dismissed early. The decision to close school or delay the start of school will be made by 5:30 a.m. in order to notify bus drivers, school employees, and parents in a timely manner. The announcement will be made via the media of television, radio and websites.

CNM and ENMU Team Up to Offer Online Degree

Central New Mexico Community College has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) that allows students taking career technical education courses at CNM – such as drafting, welding and culinary arts – to obtain a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) from ENMU.

ALBUQUERQUE–Governor Susana Martinez today proposed a $112 million capital investment in New Mexico’s water infrastructure. This investment amounts to approximately 60 percent of the capital outlay funding that will be available when the New Mexico Legislature convenes in January.
