Los Alamos Robotics will hold a mini-sumo robot construction workshop and class ending in a mini-sumo tournament.
The class is free as is the competition. The class is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 24, and Nov. 7 at 4711 Quemazon in Los Alamos (This location may change, so be sure to contact Dave Jones at the email below to attend.) Be sure to purchase parts in time for the first class. The competition is Nov. 14.
There will be two competitions: one for “entry level” and one for “advanced.” The “advanced” competition is open to all mini-sumos – even if you don’t attend the class.

Dorothy Hoard, local historian and author of several books on the homesteading era in northern New Mexico, will lead give a free presentation at PEEC at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23. There is no need for advance registration.
During the presentation, Hoard will help attendees envision what it was like for homesteaders who lived in this area in the 19th century.

Food on the Hill: Blonde Zucchini Bread

- 3 ¾ cups bread flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups of shredded zucchini
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts
Directions:
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. In one bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. In a larger bowl, mix together all the wet ingredients. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients about ¼ at a time until all incorporated.

Power Outage on Bryce and Connie Saturday

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities officials reported a power outage Saturday affecting 32 customers in the neighborhood near Bryce and Canyon in White Rock.
The outage began at approximately 10:49 a.m. and full power was restored by 12:05 p.m., by rerouting power. Permanent repairs are underway today. Read More
