A dozen rescued bears ranging in weight from 4 to 150 pounds are recuperating and rehabilitating along with other wildlife at a secluded compound north of Espanola. The 150-pound bear was emaciated when it arrived a couple of months ago, weighing just 27 pounds.

An organization in Arizona, the Southwest Environmental Information Network (SEINet), has been gathering the most important southwest databases into a single website.

Udall Urges FTC to Investigate Phone Scams

WASHINGTON – Friday, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., wrote a letter to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairwoman Edith Ramirez, asking her to take “aggressive action” to investigate and prevent telephone scams targeting utility customers in New Mexico.
More than 130 New Mexico utility customers have been targeted so far. Some have lost of thousands of dollars in the telephone scams, in which callers threaten to disconnect electric service unless the customer sends money via prepaid card or online payment.

White Rock Visitor Center Hooking Up RVs at Rock Bottom Rates!

The White Rock Visitor Center is “hooking up” recreational vehicle (RV) travelers with the most economical rate in northern New Mexico of only $10 per night now through Nov. 1. The rate includes electric hook up and access to a dump station.
On Nov. 1, the daily rate will change to $20, which continues to be one of the least expensive rates compared to most RV parks whose prices typically range from $20 to $45 per day.
