Political Signs Prohibited In State Rights-Of-Ways
NMDOT News:
SANTA FE – With election season quickly approaching, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) would like to remind political campaigns that department rules prohibit the placement of political signs within NMDOT’s rights-of-ways.
Signs in these areas are a public safety issue because they can impede a driver’s visibility and distract motorists from existing legal traffic signs.

LAHS Hires New Swim Coach
LAHS News:
The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department would like to announce the hiring of Stuart Corliss as the Boys and Girls Swim Coach for 2013-14 school year.
Coach Corliss received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his MBA from UCLA Graduate School of Management.
He has been involved with club and college coaching. He also swam for Stanford University and was an NCAA All-America. While swimming for Stanford he served as team captain two of those years. He coached the De Anza Cupertino Swim Club in 1980 that went to the Junior National Championships.

LANL Emergency Exercise Set For Thursday
LANL News:
Los Alamos National Laboratory is conducting an emergency-preparedness exercise Thursday, Aug. 22.
It is only an exercise.
The Lab routinely conducts emergency exercises to test the preparedness of emergency response and other LANL personnel who would respond to an actual emergency.
During the exercise, employees should be aware of possible increased emergency vehicle traffic on some LANL roads in the Technical Area 3 area. “Exercise in Progress” signs will be placed in affected areas.

David Rael of Los Alamos crashed his motorcycle at 5 p.m. Sunday on Diamond Drive.
Police arrested Rael, 35, and charged him with aggravated DWI, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, resisting and evading an officer, concealing his identity, reckless driving, failure to give immediate notification of an accident, driving on a revoked license, driving with no registration and driving with no insurance. Google has announced the 2013 eCities of America. The Google eCity Awards recognize the digital capitals of each state. These cities’ businesses are using the web to find new customers, connect with existing customers and fuel their local economies. Across the country, businesses that are online expect to grow 40 percent faster.
Albuquerque topped the list for New Mexico. Albuquerque’s businesses have one of the strongest online communities in New Mexico. The state’s largest city entertains hot air balloon enthusiasts, warm-weather lovers and dessert seekers.

Chip Cooper is the overall winner of Saturday’s 39th annual 2013 Los Alamos Triathlon. Cooper completed the event in 1:01:11. Clay Mosley came in a close second at 1:02:32.
The Los Alamos Triathlon is a tough, hilly course with a unique format consisting of mass bike starts in waves with the swim in the middle. The event consists of a 20k bike race, a 400 meter pool swim and a 5k run.
