Pet of the Week: Cassidy the Dog

SHELTER News:

Cassidy is a young spayed female fawn/white hound mix, about a year old. She is a total sweetie and a quick learner. She is good with people and other dogs. Cassidy loves to go for walks and is leash trained. She also knows “sit.”

All adoptable pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and brought up-to-date on vaccinations. Dogs are checked for heartworm.

Volley Ball Camp Next Week

SPORTS News:

A Volleyball Technique Camp will be held for youth going into 5th through 8th grade.

The Camp will be 5-7 p.m., July 15–18 at Griffith Gym. Los Alamos High School and Los Alamos Middle School volleyball coaches will lead the camp.

This camp focuses on teaching general skills encountered in middle school volleyball. There will be a breakout sessions on individual skills and position specific skills as well. Player registrations will be taken at the door or you may register in advance.

Areas of Santa Fe National Forest Reopen

USFS News:

SANTA FE–The Santa Fe National Forest reopen portions of the forest at 8 a.m. today, July 12.

Fenton Lake and Monastery Lake will reopen as well. NM Game and Fish properties along the Pecos River will remain closed.

Lucy goose was raised by 4-H girls in Wyoming. When fully grown, she and two nestlings were adopted by my neighbor’s grandmother. Bandelier Eases Fire Restriction, Offers Programs

Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott announced that, in concert with the re-opening of other public lands in the area, the restrictions at the park due to high fire danger will be lowered to Level I this weekend.

 As of 8 a.m. Friday, campfires will be permitted in the fire grills in Juniper Campground. The campground and all the park trails have been open all along, including overnight backpacking in the Bandelier Wilderness.
